Refute TV is bad for children With the advancement of technology, children tend to inhibit the media rich environment of multiple channel TV, the internet, computer games, and mobile phones. Today, it is not just teenagers and adults who get hooked on television, but also children. Children all over the usual world watch television. There tend to be several articles and studies done showing how television is bad for children. For instance, in an article by Vlad (2006), it states that those children who spend more time watching television tend to spend less time interacting with their families and also playing creatively. Another argument is that when children watch violent TV, they tend to be more aggressive because the minds of childrenâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Therefore, from television, children get to learn and gain a better appreciation of the world, people, and animals. While arguments against TV purpose that it encourages anti-social behavior, I refute this claim. While children are watching television with the family members, it does have a significant impact on the family and social interaction. When children are together with their parents when watching TV shows, they have fun and experience a happy moment together, and this works to improve personal development. The good roles models in the TV may positively influence children (Taylor, 2007). It is essential to know that people normally influence children that they see on the programs and mostly kids. While that may have a negative impact on children, it can also have a positive impact. Today, most television shows have started promoting positive agendas such as environmental awareness and healthy living (Taylor, 2007). Therefore, as children start seeing their favorite characters making good choices, they will try to emulate them. Thus, they will be positively influenced. In the same way, the parents can also help by pointing the positive traits that the characters display; hence, sparking valuable family discussions that will help in children development.
